2008 Soccer - ACF Fiorentina vs. FC Barcelona (1-3) - July 30, 2008

World Footballer of the year,Lionel Messi, have agreed to pay Spanish authorities a whooping 15 million Euros as settlement, which means that he will no longer have a date in the Spanish court.
Both Messi and his father,Jorge, were accused of tax evasion and for concealing some deals of the player’s image rights, which they reportedly diverted into foreign accounts.
Messi was scheduled to appear in court in September,to answer questions over the deal, but the truce with the Spanish authorities, means that the court date has now been called off.
El Periodico who initially reported the story the first time,on Thursday said that the camp of Messi struck the deal to pay up €15m to forestall, any other action.
Messi, who is currently on a visit to Senegal, where he will be sensitizing people on the scourge of malaria, has constantly maintained his innocence, that he fulfilled all his financial obligations.
What it now entails is that Messi will now give up almost a year’s income,as he currently earns €16m per year.
