Nigeria Moves up three places in the FIFA Rankings
Nigeria has moved up three places in the latest FIFA rankings released for the month of April.
Accumulating a total of 780 points,Nigeria is now ranked 28th in the world from their previous position of 31st released last month.
However Nigeria’s position remains unchanged in Africa,as they are still ranked fourth on the continent, behind Ivory Coast,Ghana and Mali.
No international friendly match was played last month, which explains why there wasn’t much changes in the monthly rankings.
The top ten countries in the world remained unchanged with Spain, maintaining the number one position as Germany and Argentina, trail in second and third positions respectively.
The only movers within the top 20 are Switzerland (14th, up 1) and Belgium (15th, up 1), who have both climbed one place, overtaking Mexico (16th, down 2). Belgium have achieved their highest-ever ranking, as have Albania, who have moved up five places to 43rd.
Next month’s World Cup qualifications and competitions, will definitely have a bearing on the next rankings.
Nigeria has an opportunity to better its position with the games against Kenya and Namibia and also the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.
