Roma may sign Roberto Mancini

The former Inter coach has hailed the Giallorossi a "great club" and flirted with the idea of taking over at Stadio Olimpico in the future

Roberto Mancini has revealed his interest in Roma's "project" but ruled out making an imminent return to Serie A.

The 48-year-old has been out of work ever since he got the sack at Manchester City earlier this summer, but insists he is in no rush to return to the dug-out and will wait for the right opportunity.

"I am not yet ready to return to Serie A. I would like a few more experiences abroad first. La Liga or the Premier League, who knows... I am calm and awaiting what happens," Mancini told Corriere dello Sport.

"There has never been direct contact with Roma. Roma are a great club, though, with a lot of prestige. They are building a team to start a new cycle and I cannot deny that it's an interesting project. Never say never, I would always take an interesting offer into consideration."

Mancini then went on to praise Francesco Totti and feels the former Italy international can continue to play at the highest level for the forseeable future.

"He is a player who has always made the difference over the years," the 48-year-old added.

"It's true that there will come a moment when he will be less decisive, but he has so much quality that he will keep on making the difference for a long time."

The former Inter boss was linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco in the past few months, but revealed that he never received a formal offer from either club.

He said: "I didn't expect PSG to give me a call. Obviously, we are talking about a great club, but there has never been an approach. PSG will become a European powerhouse.

"Monaco? Again, I never had any contact with them either. They have a great coach in Claudio Ranieri and he deserves to lead them in Ligue 1 after securing promotion last term."
